Cargo Handling Equipment

Lifts are used to pick up, locate, and organise cargos, there are many types of cargo, corresponding to the variety of lift types used within the process. Any cargo handling services in Malaysia or the whole world shared the same equipment. 

Base Twistlock: might be the most common type of lift you see at any harbor and whenever someone on film mentions a harbor scene, there must be one of these. As its name suggests, the lift is locked on location, the lift will then pick up individual cargo and load them on the ship

Semi-Automatic Twistlock: the lock acts as a fixation agent when it allows people to stack cargo (containers) into a tower of cargo and ensure a safe lock to keep the cargo stable during shipping. 

Midlocks: These locks are used when a 20 feet container is put on a 40 feet dock, it functions just like a Semi-Automatic Twistlock, but are used for different size cargo. 

Semi Automatic Base Twistlock: similar usage with a Base Twistlock but for lowermost tier. 

Hanging staker: is to hold a 20 feet container from all 4 sides, providing a located cargo handling. 

Lashing Rods: different types of length lashing rods use to grip the containers on one end and the other end tied with the base dock. 

Turnbuckle & Bottle screw: is used to generate tension on lashing rods holding the container so that they won’t get loose. 

Spammer: is a tightening tool used to tighten bottle screws and turnbuckles. 

Emergency tool: used when a twist lock cannot be unlocked. 

Grease: an anti-seize that maintains a smooth operation of lashing containers. 

Types of cargo

There are 5 types of cargo, you could see it at cargo handling services in malaysia:

Containers: these are the most basic type of cargo used in storing and delivering goods. Containing toys, foods, clothes, tobacco,… 

Dry Bulk Cargo: is a giant, used for large quantities of goods such as sand, rocks, metal ores,… that is left unpacked under the weather conditions. 

Liquid Bulk Cargo: as its name implies, it is used for free-form liquid or liquid gases that are carried in specialised tanks: crude oil, fuels, oils,…
